Happiness and Mindfulness

cropped-img_0989.jpgI know people who can count on their hands the number of times they felt happy in the past year. They go about their daily lives hiding the way they really feel inside by putting on a happy face; which works temporarily believe it or not.

Happiness is such a rare commodity that people are able to tell you when they were last happy, where they were at when they were last happy and why they were last happy. Some of us have spent years dedicating our lives to unwanted jobs, toxic relationships, and embarrassing addictions, mostly for the purpose of wanting to feel happy and fulfilled. Please do me a favor and stop beating yourself up, because the decisions and choices you have made In the past. We are who we are today because of our past experiences. Practicing mindfulness is a great way to a balanced and happy life.

Mindfulness is having total awareness (on purpose ) of what is taking place around you right now, in this moment. This means you are aware of your thoughts, feelings, sensations and surroundings without judging anything that is taking place while you’re in the moment. You have blocked out past thoughts and events and you’re not thinking of any future events.

Practicing mindfulness improves personal growth, and optimizes your ability to handle life’s difficulties. Mindfulness is beneficial for people coping with anxiety, depression, insomnia, pain, stress and the sense of well being.
