How Humble are You

Do you practice humility?

mother-teresa-quote-humility.jpg

I really feel that humility is a gift that few people process. Therefore the act of humility has to be sought out, desired and practiced. Most of us have life experiences which has taught us not to be too caring an giving. God forbid if we are taken advantage of. Today more and more children are taught to live lives which are the opposite of humility. We have turned into a cold, mean and selfish society. We live in a dangerous world in which vulnerability is the last thing we want to be. Today its popular to be hungry- hungry for fast money, hungry for relationships, hungry for attention and hungry for fame. Continue reading “How Humble are You”

What is Your Life’s Mission

I recently re-worded my life’s mission statement as I felt my recent experiences had given me a cause to refocused my life. In March and April of this year I loss my cat of 18 years and my brother. The loss of my cat in March was painful, in April when I loss my brother I felt numbed, all It seemed I could do was try to burry the pain and push on. My goal were to make it through the pain with as little damage to my emotions and heart as possible. We all have times in life when we are knocked off our square. A life or personal mission statement is helpful during these times with realigning us back up with our life’s purpose. It doesn’t matter if it takes 1 week or 1 year to realign, the most important thing is having a mission to realign to. If we have no plan and goal to realign with, we could be left going around in circles, loss about what our purpose in life is.When I re-wrote my mission statement, I felt revitalized, although it was reworded slightly it has given me a new guide and map to living my purposeful life”. Best Things About Being Single Follow-up

IMG_0989A couple days ago I wrote an article called “The Best Things About Being Single”. I was surprised by the different views on the article. Thank you for your comments and messages. First I would like to say my intention was never to offend anyone by my best reasons for being single, so I want to start by saying I’m sorry if you were offended. I am also aware that I can’t please everyone. Topics on singleness is a sorta taboo topic unless it’s in a group of the same types of people. Discussions on singleness is as deep as discussions on religion; someone is sure to feel uncomfortable after the discussion has ended, but why is this? Well it’s because, where you currently are in your life, in a relationship or single, is how you feel about being single or in a relationship. For example if your in a happy relationship and my telling you the best things about my being single, you could possibly not relate at that time because your reality is different- you probably don’t want to imagine being without your love. The same is not true for if I was in a relationship and told you the best things about my being in the relationship. Your feeling uncomfortable with what I said is less likely. You would be able to relate to what I said because this is what we have been taught to believe. Most people if having to choose between being in a relationship or being single, would choose being in a relationship. It easier to go towards the grain than against it.

I also received several messages which asked me if what I written was what I really felt. Well yes! I wouldn’t had written it, if it wasn’t how I felt. I am aware that one could judge what I said, as me being a selfish lady. I understand that it would be better if I was self-less- not aiming to please myself but rather aiming to please others. I have learned that just as there are pro’s and con’s to being single, there are also pro’s and con’s to loving one-self. When other’s don’t know you as well as you know yourself they are shocked by your life decisions. When you love yourself you easily appear more selfish, and over confident; and when you take a journey to re-write your life’s manuscript others are often puzzled with what you write in it.

The bottom line is, my original life plan didn’t include me being single and especially as long I have, but if I had not known the great things about being single I would not have chosen singleness. Thank goodness that I learned that there is more than one way to live and enjoy life. Single-dom (Having dominant and dominion over my life) rocks!

My Life’s mission is to persevere through life’s experiences, to embrace life’s diversities and to endure life’s challenges for the purpose of teaching healing and empowering others to be their best.
